FAQ'S
  1. Why should I try this pattern? One reason is, you don't want to waste your time making a dress that isn't lined. It won't hang properly and you will wish you had made a lined dress that's more professional looking for your time and effort.
  2. Shouldn't I just buy one? If you are thinking about buying a pillowcase dress from an online retailer or a neighborhood boutique, consider making one yourself. Save money, use your creativity, and furthermore, make and sell them too. It is totally possible for a complete beginner to use my pattern template and instructions.
  3. How will I get the pattern? You will download a PDF file after you pay. Paypal is accepted. Once you download it you will then need to print out the template onto a sheet of paper and get started. All you need is a sewing machine, your fabric or pillowcase and a few basic sewing supplies such as a marking pen, thread, ribbon, and scissors to sew your dress.
  4. Don't I get two different patterns? Yes! Pattern #1 - This pattern is for a dress or a top. It is also designed to be made reversible too. It is a lined dress which only requires from a 1 yard to 2 yards of fabric depending on the size you are planning on making. You can choose to use a different fabric for the lining that you wish to use for the reversible side. Or if you only want to show one side, use a plain lining. Some of the dresses you see here have monograms on the front or have trims sewn to them afterward. You can add anything to them that you want using your own ideas or even copy mine. Pattern #2 - Make a vintage pillowcase dress or top. Using a vintage or new pillowcase and some lining, make a beautiful dress or top as shown below. The instructions are mostly the same as a reversible dress, although if the pillowcase has cutwork or lace at the bottom the dress will not be made to reverse. Either way it will be a wonderfully lined dress to save as a keepsake for years to come. The dress or top does not have buttons, so you don’t have to know how to make buttonholes at all. After you make the top, buy pants to match, or find a commercial pattern to make pants with. At this time, I cannot offer a pants pattern for download this way. Hopefully soon I can develop one that will work this way.
  5. Are there photos or drawings to help me see how it's done? Actual photographs of steps are shown for you to easily see how it’s done. Other patterns you can buy online for pillowcase dresses include doll size patterns, scrunchie patterns, and other extras. Consider this pattern not for its extras but for its classic good looks, reversibility, and ease of use. This dress will look like you spent either a lot of money or a lot more time on it than you did!
